AskGamblers notes that Sportaza offers self-exclusion and a self-assessment test, but not deposit, loss, bet or session-length limits. The tools available may change: check them in the responsible gambling section of your profile. This guide explains how to use them, in what order to proceed and which external tools to add, because for a resident of Italy the national self-exclusion run by ADM (Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli, the Italian customs and monopolies agency) does not apply to Sportaza.
If you feel you have lost control
The Telefono Verde Nazionale (national helpline run by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, the Italian National Institute of Health) for gambling-related problems answers on 800 55 88 22; it is free and anonymous. Other references are on the responsible gambling page.
The options, from the lightest to the strongest
| Tool | Effect | Reversible | On Sportaza |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deposit, loss or session limits | Cap on spending or time per period | Yes, with waiting times for increases | Not found by AskGamblers: to be checked in the profile |
| Break (cool-off) | Account blocked for a short period | At expiry | To be checked in the profile |
| Self-exclusion | Account blocked for a long period or indefinitely | No, for the period chosen | Available according to AskGamblers |
| Account closure | Account closed on request | At the operator's discretion | On request to support |
The difference between closure and self-exclusion is substantial: an account closed as a commercial choice can often be reopened with a simple request, whereas self-exclusion exists precisely to prevent that. If the reason is difficulty in controlling your gambling, self-exclusion is the right tool.
The right order of operations
Withdraw the balance
Before self-excluding or closing, request the withdrawal of your real balance, respecting the limit of €500 a day. With an active bonus, consider forfeiting it to free up the real balance.
Complete verification, if it is missing
Without KYC the withdrawal is not approved, even on an account being closed.
Request self-exclusion or closure in writing
From the profile section, if available, or by email to support@sportaza.com, specifying the duration and the reason (for example "self-exclusion for responsible gambling reasons"). The written request remains as proof.
Turn off communications
Ask to be removed from emails, SMS and promotional notifications. An operator should not send offers to a self-excluded account.
Add external blocks
Self-exclusion applies to a single operator: blocks on your phone and bank also cover the other sites.
Why ADM self-exclusion is not enough
In Italy the single self-exclusion register run by ADM blocks all authorised concession holders with a single request. Sportaza is not an ADM concession holder: a resident of Italy who is self-excluded from legal gambling can still open an account on Sportaza, and a self-exclusion requested from Sportaza does not apply on other offshore sites. For this reason, people who have problems controlling their gambling need tools that work at the level of the device and of payments.
External tools that work on all sites
- Your bank's gambling transaction block: several banks and cards let you block, from the app, payments to merchant categories linked to gambling. Ask your bank whether the service is available.
- Gambling site blocking software: there are dedicated applications for computers and smartphones that prevent access to thousands of betting and casino sites.
- Phone controls: Screen Time (iOS) and Digital Wellbeing (Android) let you block or limit individual sites and apps.
- A trusted person: entrusting the management of your cards or passwords for a period is a simple and often effective measure.
What happens to your data after closure
Closing the account does not automatically delete personal data. Anti-money-laundering obligations require the operator to keep documents and transactions for a period of years. You can ask for the deletion of data not subject to a retention obligation and for commercial communications to stop, by exercising the rights provided by the GDPR against the operator through the contacts stated in its privacy notice.
Frequently asked questions
How do I close my Sportaza account?
From the profile section, if the option is provided, or by asking support in writing (support@sportaza.com). First withdraw your real balance and keep the confirmation you receive.
Does Sportaza have self-exclusion?
Yes, according to AskGamblers, together with a self-assessment test. Deposit, loss or session limits do not appear to exist: check in your profile which tools are available.
If I self-exclude, do I lose my balance?
The real balance remains your property, but recovering it from a blocked account may take several steps. For this reason it is better to withdraw it before requesting self-exclusion.
Does ADM self-exclusion apply on Sportaza?
No. The single self-exclusion register concerns ADM concession holders. On Sportaza a separate self-exclusion is needed, and to cover all offshore sites you need external tools such as bank blocks and blocking software.
