Methodology
How we produce our analyses
The sources, criteria and rating scale used across the Sportaza.ltd pages. We publish them for one reason: so you can check whether our conclusions really follow from the data.
Hierarchy of sources
- The operator's official website: legal footer, promotions pages, VIP and gaming sections. This is the primary source for everything the operator publishes.
- Regulatory authorities: licence validation pages, the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM, the Italian customs and monopolies agency) and AGCOM (the Italian communications authority).
- Legal texts: laws and decrees in the version published on Normattiva (the Italian official legislation database).
- Independent secondary sources: profiles on AskGamblers, Casino.guru, Wizard of Odds and similar sites, used for data the operator does not publish in an accessible form (for example withdrawal limits and bonus requirements).
- User review platforms: Trustpilot and the user sections of review portals, used to gauge reputation, never as proof of a single fact.
Every piece of data states, in the text or in the tables, the source it comes from. Data from secondary sources is marked as such.
How we distinguish types of information
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Verified | Read on a primary source on the date stated |
| Third-party source | Reported by an independent secondary source and not confirmed by the operator |
| Interpretation | Our own inference from the facts, stated as such |
| Historical | Data that was valid in the past but is no longer current |
| Unconfirmed | Information found in only one source and without corroboration |
The areas assessed and what we check
| Area | What we check |
|---|---|
| Sportsbook | Sports and competitions covered; features (live, cash out, bet builder, streaming); transparency of the rules; sports promotions and their conditions |
| Casino | Size of the catalogue and providers; availability of information on RTP and certifications; live casino; how bonus rules apply to games |
| Bonuses | Completeness of the published conditions; wagering requirement and what it is based on; game contributions; maximum stake; expiry dates; clauses that allow winnings to be cancelled |
| Payments | Variety and relevance of the methods for Italian users; minimums; fees; deposit-only methods; transparency of the list |
| Withdrawals | Daily and monthly limits; review and crediting times; weekend processing; payment reputation; complaints |
| Safety and regulation | Whether the operator can be identified; licence and verifiability of the seals; position relative to the ADM system; data protection; responsible gambling tools |
| Support | Channels available; languages; response times measured by independent sources; quality as perceived by users |
| Mobile | How the site works from a smartphone; whether any apps exist and where they come from |
The rating scale
For each area we assign one of four qualitative ratings:
- Strength: the offer is better than what is found on average on comparable international gambling sites, and the data that demonstrates this can be verified.
- Adequate: in line with the average, with no significant issues.
- To be verified: the published information is incomplete or contradictory, and the user should ask for confirmation before deciding.
- Critical: a concrete, documented limitation that can cause financial harm or a loss of protections.
Why we do not use an overall numerical score. A single score requires weighing areas that cannot be compared (how much is a large catalogue worth compared with the absence of protections for residents in Italy?) and ends up hiding precisely the most serious limitations. If we introduce a score in future, we will publish the weights and the calculation method here before using it.
Conflicting data
When two sources report different values (for example the sports bonus requirements, or the operator's name) we publish both values with their respective dates, state which source we consider more reliable and why, and invite the reader to ask the operator for confirmation. We do not choose the value that is more favourable to the operator.
Limits of our method
- Sportaza's contractual pages (terms, payments, FAQ) are excluded from search engines and cannot always be consulted publicly: some data therefore comes from secondary sources.
- The analyses published on 8 October 2026 are not based on deposits or withdrawals made by the editorial team. When we carry out direct tests, we will state them with the date, amounts and method.
- User reviews are not a statistical sample: we use them to identify recurring themes, not to establish facts.
Updates and corrections
Variable data is collected in a single archive that all the pages read from: when a value changes, it is updated everywhere at the same time. The "Last data check" date is changed only after an actual check. Error reports come in through the contact page; if the error is confirmed, the correction is published and, when relevant, noted on the page concerned.
